About Dr. Nicholas Rizzo

Dr. Rizzo received his B.A. in Biology from the University of Chicago and his M.D. from Northwestern.  He completed his residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, is board certified in Internal Medicine (General Medicine for adults), and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians.  Dr. Rizzo was in practice in the south suburbs of Chicago in Palos Heights and Evergreen Park from 1997 to November of 2011 when he relocated his practice to join a large private practice group at Northwestern where he also served as a Clinical Instructor of Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.  In 2013 the group was sold to Northwestern, and Dr. Rizzo, choosing instead to remain in private practice, returned to Palos Heights.

 

He is the author of the book "Championship Nutrition and Performance: The Wrestler’s Guide to Lifestyle, Diet and Healthy Weight Control" and a contributing author to the book “The Arsenal: The Wrestler’s Training Log” by NCAA National Champion Alan Fried.  He volunteered as an assistant varsity wrestling coach at Marist High School for 14 years, works as a ringside physician for professional boxing and MMA events, is a Board Member of the Association of Ringside Physicians, and is a member of  the State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Athletic Unit Advisory Board.  He is the founder of www.RingsideMedicine.com, a resource for combat sports physicians and commissions.

 

He also holds a certificate in Culinary Arts from Kendall College and is presently pursuing his law degree with a Certificate in Healthcare Law at Loyola University.
